LIFE Programme
The EU funding programme LIFE (L'Instrument Financier pour l'Environnement) supports projects in the environmental sector. It acts as a link between research in environmental and climate protection and large-scale implementation with the help of other EU support programmes.
For the funding period 2021-2027, the LIFE budget is €5.4 billion.
The programme features two thematic priorities, Environment and Climate, with four sub-programmes:
- Nature and Biodiversity
- Circular Economy and Quality Of Life
- Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation
- Clean Energy Transition
The programme period 2021-2027 features the following changes compared to the previous period:
- As with the Horizon Europe research framework programme, applications will be submitted via the EU Commission's Funding & Tenders Portal.
- The application procedure will be predominantly single-stage. Applicants will need to submit full proposals instead of short proposals.
- The sub-programme "Energy Transition" funds projects similar to those previously funded under Horizon 2020 as CSAs.
LIFE projects are co-financed projects in which up to 60% of the eligible costs can stem from EU funding.
The EU-Office offers support in the application process. For this purpose, please contact Mr. Christian Jäger.
