Advising and Service
Freiburg Research Services supports all postdoctoral researchers on all issues concerning research funding. Our services are open to members of all faculties at the University of Freiburg except the Faculty of Medicine.
We offer personal advising in German and English on topics including the following:
- Which funding program is right for my research idea?
- Where can I find information on research funding programs?
- What should a successful research funding proposal look like, and what do I need to pay attention to?
- How should I calculate the projected costs of my research project?
- How can I transfer my research idea and my research results into practice?
Our services are also available to external researchers who wish to come to the University of Freiburg with their own externally funded project.

Funding Opportunities and Applications
The departments of Freiburg Research Services advise and support you in applying for third-party research funding:
- national and international funding programs at the Science Support Centre
- EU funding programs at the EU Office

Information Leaflets and Instructions
We offer you current information leaflets and instructions in the download area of the Science Support Centre. In this way, you benefit directly from our experience on application strategies and receive information on internal university procedures (e.g., collaborative research centers, research training groups).
Courses and Workshops
The Department for Equity, Diversity and Academic Personnel Development offers a qualification program for postdoctoral researchers designed especially to provide transdisciplinary skills for career development. The Qualification Program for Postdocs will soon be expanded to include group coaching (especially on the topics of career development and managerial functions). In addition, other workshops and informational events – for instance on special funding programs – are also offered periodically.
