Online: Publishing Research Articles: Strategies and Steps

  • Publishing in open access journals
  • What editors want
  • How to respond to editors’ comments
  • What reviewers do
  • How to write a review report by yourself
  • What to do in case of rejection
  • Authorship
  • Copyright issues
  • Ethical obligations
 

Objectives

After this workshop,

  • you understand publishers’, editors’, and reviewers’ missions and tasks,
  • you evaluate publishing activities in respect of ethical guidelines,
  • you compare target journals based on relevant criteria and
  • you know different strategies for achieving publishing success.
 

Methods

Short lectures provide information and tips; extended exercises help to make use of online tools and to develop individual strategies. In addition, participants share experiences.

 

In preparation of this workshop, participants select three journals relevant for their field of research. For each journal, they bring to the workshop information about: (1) aims and scope, (2) reputation, (3) editors and editorial staff.
