Target Group

This course is for absolute beginners without any previous knowledge. At the end of the semester, participants should have gained level A1.1. The course will contain lessons 1 to 4 of the textbook DaF kompakt neu A1: Kurs- und Übungsbuch. The course is taught exclusively in German from the first meeting on.

This is a general language course, i.e., you will learn basic skills in the fields of speaking, listening, reading and writing. The main focus will be on oral communication, i.e. on listening and speaking. This means that an active participation is required. Furthermore you will generally be expected to complete the exercises in the textbook and practice the vocabulary on your own as homework.

After completing the course, you should be able to understand and articulate very simple everyday statements and questions.

Please let the instructor know in advance if you are unable to cover the minor expenses necessary for these activities.

All participants are required to purchase the textbook DaF kompakt neu A1: Kurs- und Übungsbuch, Klett Verlag (ISBN: 978-3126763134).

The final exam takes place on the penultimate course day, on February 2nd, 2021.

You are allowed to miss a maximum of 20 % of the entire duration of the course. Please notify the FRS-IGA of your absences (see conditions for participation).

In addition, the instructor expects you to write her a written excuse in German for each absence. These excuses have nothing to do with the notifications of absence you submit to the FRS-IGA.

Workload: 45 hours (+ practicing vocabulary and course content, which may vary from person to person)
