Advising on Doctoral Process

Do you plan to pursue a doctorate at the University of Freiburg? Would you like to get support for your decision-making process? Do you want to inform yourself about the general requirements for a doctorate? Are you already a doctoral researcher and have transdisciplinary questions, such as the following:

  • acceptance as a doctoral candidate at the faculty,
  • enrollment and registration,
  • networking, status and options to participate in decision-making processes?

Even if your specific topic is not included: Send us an email or call us to raise your questions and to arrange a personal appointment (see contact). The conversations are confidential and free of charge.

If you have any questions related to the doctoral degree regulations, please contact your faculty. Medical students should contact the doctoral studies office of the Faculty of Medicine.

The staff council advises doctoral candidates who are employees at the University of Freiburg. This includes questions related to the employment contract, the collective bargaining and labor laws, pay scale grouping, as well as questions about parental leave and child care. You are welcome to make an appointment via or call +49 (0)761 203-6900.

For non-academic matters surrounding your stay in Freiburg, please contact the Welcome Service.
