INTERREG VI

European Territorial Cooperation

The INTERREG VI programme running from 2021 to 2027 focuses on 4 overarching policy objectives:

  • a greener, CO2-free Europe;
  • a more social Europe;
  • a Europe closer to its citizens;
  • a better governance.

As in the previous INTERREG V programme generation, regional cooperation will be continued in three strands:

  • at the cross-border level as strand A;
  • at the transnational level as strand B;
  • and as INTERREG Europe as part of interregional cooperation.

INTERREG A

INTERREG A funds cross-border projects. Cooperation in this segment aims to promote the emergence of cross-border economic and social priorities based on joint strategies for sustainable territorial development. The programme is divided into so-called cooperation areas, which extend along the national external borders of the EU states. Parts of the state of Baden-Württemberg are part of the following cooperation areas:

INTERREG B

The aim of transnational cooperation is to reconcile national, regional and local concerns with the European interest in the strategic development of larger, transnational areas. Baden-Württemberg is involved in the following cooperation areas:

The German federal programme Transnational Cooperation supports INTERREG B projects that pursue an integrated and spatially effective approach.

INTERREG Europe

INTERREG Europe supports interregional cooperation between all European regions. The entire territory of the European Union is eligible for project funding. Partners from Norway and Switzerland can also be considered.
