Writing Productivity: Tools and Techniques

Target group

Doctoral candidates (all disciplines).

 

Content

  • stages in the writing process
  • working techniques and software tools for productive scientific writing
  • planning of writing projects
  • self-management and self-sabotage
  • teamwork with co-authors and supervisors

 

Objectives

In this workshop, we do not discuss issues related to text quality but talk about getting started, keeping momentum, and finishing in time. Participants learn and test various techniques, become acquainted with software tools and develop strategies for productive scientific writing.

 

Methods

Short lectures provide information and tips. Extended writing exercises help to assess working techniques. In addition, participants share experiences and discuss recommendations.

 

During the workshop, you can draft a brief text (half page to two pages). This text can be a section of your next article or of your doctoral thesis. Please choose this writing task in advance.
