General Counselling

Do you plan to pursue a doctorate at the University of Freiburg? Would you like to get support for your decision-making process? Are you already a doctoral candidate and have transdisciplinary concerns regarding doctoral studies, such as the following:

  • doctoral process,
  • supervision situation,
  • networking, status and options to participate in decision-making processes,
  • thoughts of discontinuing the doctorate,
  • motivational problems,
  • self-doubt as well as
  • difficulties in balancing the doctoral project with other areas of life?


Even if your specific topic is not included: Send us an email or call us to describe your questions and to arrange a personal appointment (see contact). The conversations are strictly confidential, the service is free of charge.

Medical students should contact the doctoral studies office of the Faculty of Medicine. If you have any questions related to the doctoral degree regulations, please contact your faculty.

The staff council advises doctoral candidates who are employees at the University of Freiburg. This includes questions related to the employment contract, the collective bargaining and labor laws, pay scale grouping, as well as questions about parental leave and child care.
